Preamble:

 

It is my personal belief that the most important piece of an individual is their moral code and their ability to consistently apply it to all aspects of their lives. We live in a fast-paced world where our reputations are heavily based upon how we are perceived by the those around us and our materialistic belongings. It can be quite easy to get caught up in this type of world and lose yourself. A strong individual will not shake when their ethics are tested, but instead hold steady in the face of adversity and stay true to what is right. My personal code of ethics is centered around three main ideals: respect for all things, both living and inanimate, loyalty to yourself and those around you, and a diligent work ethic in all aspects of life. I will apply the following ethics code to both my personal and professional life. 

 

I promise to: 

 

… treat everyone and everything in my life with respect. Individuals will be treated with respect for their emotions and boundaries. All other living things and nature will be treated with respect and appreciation for their existence. 

 

… be honest. Honesty to those around you and to yourself is a key to a peaceful life. In the professional world, I will not participate in projects that I find to be dishonest or unjust. In my personal life, I shall be as honest as I can with every person at every moment. 

 

… show patience and compassion to all. Life is a messy and beautiful journey, but sometimes it can throw things at us that cause us to falter. When I see an individual falter, either in my personal or professional life, I will discuss the situation with them and do my best to provide assistance before acting out in frustration or anger. 

 

… work as hard as I can for as long as I can. A work ethic is an incredibly important piece of an individual both in an office and in day-to-day life. I will do as much as I can for the teams I am a part of; this applies to both teams working on projects in the workplace and the personal teams I am a part of, such as family or friends. 

 

… remain loyal to those around me. Having the backs of co-workers, friends, and family members in our uncertain world is an incredible thing. Loyalty is a difficult ideal to consistently uphold due to the constant temptations in the world around us. However, loyalty provides an individual with a consistent support system that can improve their life for the better.

An extra note: 

At the end of the day, I am important. Feeling safe and secure in my life and my skin is important. Showing respect, patience, and love to myself is important. There is no greater way to show respect for oneself than to follow their ethical code and not let the world around them corrupt their ideals. There is nothing more courageous in this world than being exactly who you are. Therefore, I promise to uphold this code of ethics to the best of my abilities.
